A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US...

We are not the second, third or fourth generation in the home furnishings business…we are the first and we see that as an advantage. We don’t have kids…so if there is going to be a “second generation owner”…it will have to be our dogs, Nick & Roxie, who run our lives the way it is!

Our backgrounds are as varied as the furnishings you’ll find at Ruth & Ollie.

Kat grew up in Texas. After moving around the country with Mike to New York and Pennsylvania, we ended up in Dallas and she graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington with a business degree. She went to work for NationsBank in Dallas and then later joined Mothers Against Drunk Driving. After arriving in Richmond in 1998, Kat was in a number of marketing positions at S&K Menswear, Crestar and Play. In 2002, Kat had an opportunity to change careers and decided to pursue a long time love…interior design. She attended classes and joined a local interior design firm. In 2003, she founded her own firm, Kat Liebschwager Interiors and in 2006 launched Ruth & Ollie with Mike.

Mike is from Nebraska…he graduated from the University of Nebraska with an accounting degree. His first job was with Union Pacific in Omaha. Over the years he worked in finance and accounting for a number of UP’s subsidiaries in many different cities. After a quick year in Omaha, he was transferred to Houston, then Longview, TX (where we met), back to Houston, New York & Pennsylvania, then to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area…and finally to Richmond (apparently no one wants this guy..or he is in the witness protection program?!!?). After being the Controller for a large transportation company for 5 years, it was time for a change. He left corporate America and now runs Ruth & Ollie….which he loves.

For those of you that are new to Ruth & Ollie….Ruth was Mike’s grandmother and Ollie was Kat’s great Grandmother. We thought the name was perfect for what we are trying to do…blending traditional (Ruth) with a twist of funky (Ollie).

SHIPPING INFORMATION: All items purchased on ShopRuthandOllie.com will be shipped to your home. Smaller items such as pillows, accessories and some lamps will be shipped via UPS or FED EX. Regardless of the mode of transportation, it is vital that you review your merchandise immediately and inform the delivery person of any and all damages. If you are asked to sign any documents, it is your reponsibility to note any damages. This is of the utmost importance.

Sofas, chairs, tables and cabinets will be shipped via trucking companies accustomed to delivering these larger, heavier pieces.

TIMING:

Unfortunately, timing of delivery is different for each item shown on this website. If you need an item immediately or within a specific time frame, we request you contact our store at 804.288.3360 before you order to see if we can meet your specific timing needs.

Some pillows, lamps and accesories may be in stock and we may be able to ship these items to you within days of your order.

Other items such as upholstered furniture, tables and cabinets may take five to six weeks to manufacture plus an additional two weeks to be shipped to your home. Please note this timing is a general guideline - not a specific promise of performance.

Once you have placed an order, we will contact you within 48 hours to give you a more specific estimate of the timing of your order.

SHIPPING COSTS: Each order can be shipped directly to your home. The shipping cost will be equal to 12% of the value of your purchase.

REFUNDS, RETURNS AND CANCELLATIONS:

All orders of upholstered furniture(sofas, chairs, benches) and tables and cabinets are final and are not returnable unless there is a defect.

All orders of lamps, accessories and pillows may be returned within 30 days(the 30 days begins on the date you receive your order) with a valid receipt. Once we have received and reviewed the item you have returned, you will receive a credit or refund for the item and sales taxes. Shipping fees are non refundable.

FLOOR SAMPLE SALE All items shown on the Floor Sample page are first come first served nad are final sale with no refunds or returns. Quantities are limited. All items in the floor sample sale are available for store pick up only (no shipping).

Q: Can I have a fabric sample sent to me? A: Yes, just contact us and we will have a small sample sent to your home.
